Since its initial release in 1987 for the MSX2, the beloved action-adventure stealth video game series Metal Gear has grown to be one of the most successful franchises out there. Created by Hideo Kojima through developers Konami and Kojima Productions, the player takes the role of protagonist and special forces operative Solid Snake on his mission to locate the “Metal Gear," a tank capable of launching nuclear weapons. With a total of 11 canonical entries, the series ended with 2015’s Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Metal Gear’s innovation within the genre and exciting storyline have made it a favorite among fans.
