Domo Figures & Merchandise
Domo, sometimes affectionately called Domo-kun, is the brown and furry looking rectangular mascot of the NHK broadcasting corporation. The star of a stop-motion animation directed by Tsuneo Goda, Domo is a mysterious creature who rarely speaks (except for his name) and lives in an underground cave with a wise old rabbit called Mr. Usaji who loves watching TV and drinking green tea. Domo himself loves to eat nikujaga which is a Japanese meat and potato stew, but he really hates apples for some reason that one quite knows.
Also living in the cave are two bats called Maya (or Shinobu in the Japanese version), who suffers from alcoholism, and her child Mario (or Morio) who loves to eat spaghetti but hates Shiitake mushrooms.
Domo’s other friends include 17-year-old female weasel Tashanna (Ta-chan) who wants to be a fashion model in Tokyo and loves technology, Bear Boy who loves playing baseball, Hee and Haw who are flower pixies invisible to everyone but Domo, the fox trio Esther, Brother Fox and Fox Boy, Hungry Bear, and The Ghost.
As well as starring in the stop-motion animation, Domo has also become a hugely popular character in his own right with manga and video game franchises too, not to mention a host of cute merchandise, from plushies and keychains to T-shirts and household items!
