The murder mystery visual novel series Danganronpa began in 2010 with its first release on the PlayStation Portable, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. The franchise has included multiple video games, spin-offs, as well as manga, novel, and anime adaptations.
In the first game as well as its sequel, a group of students is brought together for a murderous game. A student must kill another student without being caught by their peers in order to win. The player’s goal is to catch the murderer. In the third entry, an action-adventure spin-off, Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls, the player attempts to survive in a city overrun by Monokuma robots. This series is developed by Spike Chunsoft with art by Rui Komatsuzaki, composition by Masafumi Takada, and writing by Kazutaka Kodaka.
