Tokyo Tegaki Yuzen is characterized by bright colors and innovative designs with a subdued feel, with an artist involved in the entire process, from concept to finished product. That artist has carefully drawn Sonic on this silk noren created individually by hand. Two patterns are available: a colored version and an inked black and white version.

About Tokyo Tegaki Yuzen
Yuzen dyeing is said to have originated with the Kyoto painter Miyazaki Yuzensai during the Kyoho era (1684–1687) of the Edo period. Yuzen dyeing flourished in Edo during the Bunka-Bunsei era (1804–1827), and many artists who were retainers for daimyo moved to the area, where a variety of techniques were passed down.

Tokyo Tegaki Yuzen Craftsman, Mr. Hyodo
After graduating from Tokyo Dyeing Arts College, he worked at the Tadashi Ishizaki Design Institute before going independent. In 1993, he won the grand prize at the All-Japan Newcomer Dyeing Exhibition, a gateway to success for young dye artists. As a traditional craftsman of the Tokyo Tegaki Yuzen technique, he has been creating kimono and obi belts for 48 years. He performs the entire production process single-handedly, including concept designs, sketches, fine linework, applying the yuzen dye, masking, resist dyeing, steaming, washing, and finishing.
