Soul of Chogokin Voltron GX-71 Voltron

I now know why this figure is held in such high regard among Voltron fans and Die-Cast collectors in general. All I can say is that I am blown away by the sheer quality and weight that this figure possesses. This guy definitely holds a strong presence on the shelf and you could say this figure would ride "Shiny and Chrome into the gates of Valhalla" and is in no way "Mediocre". If you are on the fence about getting this guy, do yourself the favor and pull the trigger.

Very cool figure for anyone who feels like the need to represent Voltron in their collection. The lions are excellently detailed and come with some neat accessories. Fully assembled, it has great shelf presence. The stand for the weapons is a great idea, because there are so many.

The instructions are of course in Japanese, so consult a video, especially for the first time assembling it.

Part of me wishes that this figure was all die cast, but I get that some of the parts just make more sense to render in plastic.

This figure is hefty (over 1 kg). It's solid. Beautifully painted. Fantastic sculpt. It is a super nostalgic toy reminiscent of the vintage Godaikin/Popy/Matchbox toy from the 1980's. Every time I pick it up I am astonished by how heavy it is. It is probably Bandai's best selling SOC of all time (now on its 3rd run). Definitely pick one up if you are a fan of Voltron or of robot toys. You will not be disappointed.
