The anime adaptation of Suetsugu Yuki’s manga Chihayafuru is getting a third season to be broadcast in 2019!
Seto Asami, Miyano Mamoru and Hosoya Yoshimasa will be reprising their roles as Ayase Chihaya, Mashima Taichi and Wataya Arata respectively.
Chihayafuru follows Chihaya, a high school student who discovers traditional Japanese card game karuta through an accomplished player named Arata and forms a karuta club of her own at school with her childhood friend Taichi. In striving to become the best karuta player in the world, she and her teammates go through various trials inside and outside the game.
The manga was first serialised in Dec. 2007 in Be Love, and was first adapted into anime in 2011. Season 2 was broadcast in 2013, and after a five-year wait, news of season 3 is finally here!
While the specific broadcast date has not yet been revealed, Chihayafuru season 3 is set to air on Nippon TV’s AnichU and other channels. Stay tuned for details!
