Of all of the spirits in Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi ( Spirited Away ), Kaonashi (“No-Face”) might be one of the most memorable. At first he was a lonely spirit who was extremely grateful for Sen’s kindness. After eating Aogaeru, though, he becomes cruel, greedy, and gluttonous, repaying the bathhouse workers in gold for incredible amounts of food.
There’s no spirit better-suited for guarding your savings, and you won’t even have to repay him in food thanks to this new little bank from Benelic Co., Ltd.!
This will be available at Donguri Kyowakoku shops nationwide and online for 4,800 yen (before tax) beginning on May 20, and it requires 2 AA’s to work.
Kaonashi is depicted with his classic mask and clean black silhouette, and is holding a classic red serving plate with gold details. There’s a surprise waiting for the unsuspecting, though! If you put coins on the serving plate, Kaonashi will devour them and hold them for you in his hidden bank. The appearance of his mouth as he eats is equal parts cool and eerie, just like it was in the film!
That’s not all, though. Once the weight of coins reaches around 30 grams, he begins to say the “Ah!” line from the film, and he also burps after he’s finished eating your coins. It’ll make you feel just a little bit like you’re in the bathhouse with Chihiro!
