Jigoku Shoujo ( Hell Girl ) is finally getting its fourth series after its eight-year hiatus! Consisting of six new and six old episodes to help get back in the mood, Jigoku Shoujo: Yoi no Togi will air in July 2017 on Tokyo MX, MBS, Gunma TV, Tochigi TV, and BS11.
The old staff is reunited once more: Sitting in the director’s chair is Omori Takahiro, who also directed the first two seasons, the character designer is Oka Mariko (known for First Love Monster), and the series composer is Kanemaki Kenichi, the director of the Natsume’s Book of Friends series, with music by Takanashi Yasuharu ( Tiger Mask W ). Similarly to the previous seasons, Yoi no Togi is being produced by Studio Deen.
The main characters will be reprising their roles from the previous seasons—Noto Mamiko as Enma Ai, Sugo Takayuki as Wanyudo, Honda Takako as Hone Onna, Matsukaze Masaya as Ichimoku Ren, Shiina Hekiru as Yamawaro, and Sakai Kanako as Kikuri—and they’ll be joined by a new character, Michiru, played by Watada Misaki.
Rumors say that if you write the name of someone you hate on “Hell Correspondence,” a website only accessible at midnight, Enma Ai, the Hell Girl, will come and take that person to Hell. Jigoku Shoujo is a mystery horror anime that started in 2005, followed shortly after by a second season, Hell Girl: Two Mirrors, in 2006, and a third, titled Hell Girl: Three Vessels, in 2008. The show was also adapted into a TV drama and a stage play due to its popularity.
In the fourth season, a mysterious young girl named Michiru appears in front of Enma Ai. She has no memories of who she is, and it falls to Enma Ai to untangle the secrets of her past...
