Captain Tsubasa, the legendary soccer manga by Takahashi Yoichi that has inspired pro soccer players all around the world, is getting a stage adaptation that will be titled Cho Taikan Captain Tsubasa ( Super Experience Captain Tsubasa )! The curtains will open on Aug. 18 at the Zepp Blue Theater Roppongi.
It will be directed by producer, choreographer, and dance performer Ebiken (Ebina Kenichi) with Kaseda Tsuyoshi, a member of the performing arts company Enra, as scriptwriter and advising producer.
If one of your first thoughts was, “Okay, but how are they going to portray soccer on stage?” worry not - they’ve got that covered with dance, martial arts, and illusions; that is to say it’ll be a dynamic mixture of digital and bodily skills. It will feature the latest technology—used for stage plays for the first time—to bring viewers a performance they can enjoy with all five senses!
