The Yamanashi Manga/Anime Project Promotion Council, operating with the Kofu Chamber of Commerce, has launched the Yamanashi Manga/Anime Labo as part of a new tourism project harnessing content that fuses local resources with anime and manga.
The Yamanashi Manga/Anime Labo cafe is open now on the first floor of the Yamanashi Prefecture Disaster Prevention Annex in Marugoto Yamanashi-kan until Jan. 31, 2017.
Event Name:
“Hakken! Hakkutsu! Yamanashi Manga/Anime Labo: Marugoto Yamanashi-kan Collaboration Cafe!” (“Discover! Excavate! Yamanashi Manga/Anime Labo: Total Yamanashi Building Collaboration Cafe”)
Event Goal:
The project aims to help create a new tourist hotspot in Yamanashi pairing the top local products of today which include wine and jewellery with the area’s manga and anime history.
Event Highlights:
New local characters Mika Maizuru and Eri act as guides to the special collaborative project, “Hakken! Hakkutsu! Yamanashi Manga/Anime Collaboration,” which includes a pop-up cafe serving delicious local food as well as product sales running until Jan. 31, 2017.
Inside the cafe there is a special area set aside for introducing the work of local manga artists, and customers will are also free to browse through the manga on display. The cafe also offers a special collaboration menu served by waitresses wearing aprons featuring the original Mika and Eri characters. The full complement of Yamanashi local characters are also on display.
Local voice actress Sachika Misawa who won the Kadokawa x Up-Front Style Idol Seiyu Audition 2008 competition was also in attendance at the Marugoto Yamanashi-kan on Nov. 23 to mark the event’s opening!
