Yuri!!! on Ice just started airing in October, but it’s been a huge hit. The series follows Yuri, a 23-year old professional ice skater, and his attempt to win the Grand Prix with the help of his coach, the ridiculously talented (and super handsome) skater Victor Nikiforov, as well as the young prodigy Yuri Plisetsky.
The series is directed by Sayo Yamamoto (known for her work on Lupin III:The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, Samurai Champloo, Psycho-Pass, Attack on Titan, and Space Dandy, among so many others!) and animated by studio MAPPA. As great as the staff behind this series is, though, it’s hard to deny that a lot of the attention it’s getting is a result of how wonderful the characters and their relationships are. (´∀｀)~♪
With all the attention it’s getting, it’s no surprise that it’s attracting a ton of fanart, as well, and the fanart just got better. The Twitter hashtag #イタコマンガ家ユーリ祭り (*itako mangaka Yuri matsuri*) has been going around challenging users to draw Yuri!!! on Ice fanart in the style of their favorite manga artists.
