One Piece Snowdome Illumination Finally Lights Up!

This year, the annual Tokyo Tower illuminations have teamed up with One Piece! Inspired by the classic One Piece episode “The Miracle Winter Cherry Blossom,” the “Tokyo Tower Winter Fantasy One Piece Snowdome Illumination” will host the largest snowdome in Japan with a diameter of around 6 meters right in front of Tokyo Tower.

Ichigo Weightlifting member and team coach Hiromi Miyake (bronze medallist at the Rio Olympics) and Sakura Gakuin’s “Seichouki Gentei Unit” joined 2,000 spectators for the special light up ceremony. The illuminations are set to run everyday from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. until Feb. 28, 2017.

The light up ceremony took place on Nov. 3, marking the opening of the “Tokyo Tower Winter Fantasy One Piece Snowdome Illumination” event.

A number of high profile guests attended the ceremony including the mayor of Minato district, Masaaki Takei, Tokyo Tower CEO Hisakichi Maeda, Amusequest’s Yokichi Osato, and from the world of entertainment Ichigo weightlifter and coach Hiromi Miyake (bronze medalist at the Rio Olympics) as well as 12 members of the “Seichouki Gentei Unit” of the idol group Sakura Gakuin.

Hiromi Miyake is actually a huge One Piece fan. When asked by the emcee for her favourite One Piece scene, Miyake recited the exact lines from the manga with total accuracy and answered the question of which Devil Fruit ability she would most like to have by requesting the Heal Heal Fruit so that she could heal her own body and the wounds of others too - making it obvious that she really knows her One Piece!

Sakura Gakuin members also enjoyed the park’s attractions prior to the event, making fans’ day as they accidentally caught sight of them on their private tour of Tokyo One Piece Tower.

A crowd of around 2,000 people came together for the countdown with all eyes trained on the moment the lights turned on.

After an exciting countdown from 10, the snowdome was suddenly bathed in pink light to the applause of the entire audience.

The main attraction is the largest Snowdome in japan which is inspired by the classic One Piece episode, “The Miracle Winter Cherry Blossom,” and spans around 6 meters in diameter.

The usually blue tinted snowdome changes colors along with the music during the running time between 1 p.m. and 10 p.m. before finishing with pink whereupon snow also flutters inside the dome. The monitor underneath the dome also displays the famous scene from the anime which is sure to prove an attraction to One Piece fans.

The “Tokyo Tower Winter Fantasy One Piece Snowdome Illumination” event runs from Nov. 3 2016 to Feb. 28, 2017. Witness the miracle of cherry blossoms in winter for yourself only at Tokyo Tower this winter.
