The “Godzilla vs. Evangelion Toho 30cm Series Evangelion Unit-02 Beast ‘G’ Mode” (32,400 yen; tax included, shipping and handling separate) has gone up for pre-order on Bandai’s official shopping site, Premium Bandai! That terrifying form the Eva unit takes on has received some Godzilla inspiration as it poses on four legs. It will also be available on the official Evangelion Store.
■ About the Figure
Hideaki Anno is known as the creator of the anime Evangelion and has also been brought on to the staff of Godzilla Resurgence (which opened on July 29) as the director. He then brought these two worlds together through the Godzilla vs. Evangelion project.
The Evangelion Unit-02 was brought into this project based on the premise of “what if the G-cell^1^ was brought into Evas?” and is the follow-up to the Evangelion Unit-01 “G” Awakening Version. It’s quite long at 38 centimeters.
This figure came about as a fusion of Unit-02’s Beast Mode appearance in Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance and Godzilla. Unit-02 takes on this mode when disconnected from its limiter, and Godzilla-inspired touches like its rock-like skin and a large dorsal fin appear.
The color scheme is red and white, inspired by the colors of Unit-02. It's positioned on all fours with its mouth wide open to capture its wildness, and it would surely terrify whatever enemy it’s glaring at.
If you set it up next to the Evangelion Unit-01 “G” Awakening Version figure (on sale now!), their overwhelming presence will blow you away in a whole new way.
^1^ Godzilla’s cells. Highly corrosive, so when they’re inserted into other living organisms, they alter the structure of that organism. Many monsters in the Godzilla series are made in this way.

Since its first appearance in 1954, the Godzilla series and its world-famous monster have reigned over these past 60 years. Meanwhile, the TV anime Evangelion began airing in 1995 and instantly captured the hearts of fans as it blew them away with how it defied traditional anime tropes.
These works have never interacted, but Godzilla Resurgence, the latest work in the Godzilla series which premiered on July 29, featured Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno in its staff.
