Shinjuku 2-chome is a district which gives birth to cutting-edge music, art, and culture. Creators and artists of various talents gather for its gay community, and have now come together for an event at Kawasaki City’s music hall Club Citta!
The citizens of Kawasaki City are currently putting effort into expanding the community’s diversity in an attempt to make it a more comfortable place for minorities and disabled persons. La Cittadella, the business space which includes Club Citta, is dedicated to bringing cutting-edge entertainment to its visitors through film and music, and it recognizes a great deal of talent in the fine art culture within the LGBT community.
DJ JURI, who has an incredible number of connections in Shinjuku 2-chome, happened to meet the person in charge of Club Citta, and together they came up with an idea for a new and creative event for Kawasaki, an LGBT-friendly event which would show pride in the community’s diversity. That event is “Imamekashinai to,” roughly meaning “You must modernize.” This event will bring together between 60 and 70 of Shinjuku’s creators and artists at Club Citta including live performances, DJ shows, and dancing. The entire place will look incredible through the use of illumination and videos.
This is meant to be a peaceful party, bringing people together regardless of gender and sexual orientation. Plans are also being made to continue it for the next two years.

Main Performers and Profiles
DJ/Producer: DJ JURI
DJ JURI opened a DJ & VR bar in Shinjuku 2-chome; offers DJ lessons with the support of DENON, Manhattan Records, OTAI Record, DJCITY Japan, and M Audio; and is a producer. DJ JURI worked with a number of films around Asia and made appearances in commercials after working with Ebisu Muscats in 2014, and then began working as a music producer for the popular actress Sho Nishino.
MC: Takaki Obara
Obara is the representative director of Shinjuku 2-chome’s top entertainment bar, AiSOTOPE LOUNGE. He also produces four other shops in Shinjuku 2-chome. He has worked for a year and a half as the MC of a podcast about 2-chome’s gay community, and was also recently chosen as the MC of the Tokyo Rainbow Pride Parade. Obara is also a commentator for a number of LGBT-related things and works on TV programs including 2-chome Nau Nau.
Drag Queen Show: HOSSY
The Queen of Queens, HOSSY reigns top among Tokyo’s drag queens. An ultra-super-gorgeous beauty on the stage, existing in legends as a dirty and disruptive drunk off the stage, HOSSY can be found all over, appearing in both the underground scene and in major scenes for the past decade or so. Also competent in fashion design and sewing, HOSSY makes all of her own clothes.
