Japan Post to Issue New Stamps Featuring Doraemon and Friends

Japan Post has issued greeting stamps to be released on July 1st featuring the beloved Doraemon and his friends. For postcards, the sheets will cost 52 yen (approximately USD$0.46) while there are two letter size sheets that will cost 82 yen (approximately USD$0.74). One sheet includes 10 stamps.

The postal stamp collaborations were made possible by the Association of Japanese Animations which has been providing animation images and assistance with the original illustrations. Previous hit collaborations include the Science & Technology and Anime Heroes and Heroines Series and the Anime Heroes and Heroines Series.


The theme of the 52 yen sheet is “Letter” and the sheet includes a pre-delivery post and super special delivery stamp. The sheet margins include illustrations of Gian and Suneo making this a great collector’s item.The theme of the 82 yen sheet is “Secret Gadget”. The sheet features a lineup of Doraemon’s popular gadgets such as the Take-Copter, Small Light, and the Anywhere Door.

Each sheet comes with ten different stamp designs featuring Doraemon as the main motif, with prices of 520 yen (approx. USD$4.70) for the 52 yen sheet, and 820 yen (approx. USD$7.40) for the 82 yen sheet.

The stamps are available for purchase in post offices across Japan. They can also be purchased via money order at the Ginza Post Office as well as online at the Kitte Shop (site in Japanese).
