The second trailer has been posted of the theatrical anime Ajin: Shodo (Ajin: Demi-Human - Compel) that will be released in Japan for a limited two-week run beginning Nov. 27. The movie gained buzz at this year’s Tokyo International Film Festival for being a high quality digital animation. You can get a feel for why in the trailer. A limited edition movie package will also be sold in theaters, and details on the second round bonus item that comes with advance tickets have been revealed. Things will heat up more and more up till the release.
Ajin: Demi-Human is a popular manga by Gamon Sakurai currently serialized in Kodansha’s Good! Afternoon. Six tankobon volumes have been published, and the series is a bestseller with over 3.9 million copies in print. An animated movie trilogy is in the works. A TV anime series has also been greenlit, which will begin broadcasting on Jan. 15, 2016.
The first movie in the trilogy, Ajin:Demi-Human - Compel, will finally be released in Japan on Nov. 27, and in the released second trailer you can check out the characters, of course, as well as the core of the story, the “Ajin” (demi-humans).
The cast lineup includes Mamoru Miyano as main character Kei Nagai, Yoshimasa Hosoya, Hochu Otsuka, and Takahiro Sakurai. The impactful visuals make use of CG techniques unique to Polygon Pictures, which created the anime Knights of Sidonia.
The second round of advance tickets that include a bonus item began on Nov. 13. The bonus item this time is a clear file featuring artwork drawn just for the occasion by series author Gamon Sakurai. A QR code is also printed on the clear file. Scanning the code on or before Nov. 26 gives access to the released trailer, and scanning it on or after Nov. 27 gives access to exclusive character voices of Mamoru Miyano as Kei Nagai and Yoshimasa Hosoya as Kaito recorded specially for the occasion. The scenario for the voice work was even created specially by series composer Hiroshi Seko, which packs it with a premium feel.
Beginning on the release date of the movie, Nov. 27, theaters will be selling a limited edition package of the movie. The package is a theater exclusive and of course includes the feature film along with extras including a teaser PV and a non-credit ending. It costs 6,000 yen (plus tax).
