“Garakowa -Restore the World-” Slated for Jan. 9, 2016 Release; World Revealed in Trailer

Pony Canyon’s original theatrical anime Garakowa -Restore the World- is gaining buzz. The movie is an anime adaptation of work that won the “Anime-ka Taisho powered by Pony Canyon” award in 2013. The movie’s release date has finally now been confirmed. It will be released in 27 theaters across Japan on Jan. 9, 2016. Along with the release date, a teaser, list of theaters screening the movie, and information on the music and bonus items that come with advance tickets was all revealed one after the next. With two months left until the release, things are finally starting to heat up.

The movie will be screened in all major cities throughout Japan, from Sapporo in the north to Hakata in the south. In Tokyo, screenings will be held at theaters familiar to anime fans including Shinjuku Wald 9 and Cinema Sunshine Ikebukuro. The teaser is about a minute long and impresses with flower gardens and other beautiful visuals. And what kind of meaning the profound words that stream one by one have is a curious point on the story’s development.

The second anime visual has also been posted. It foreshadows a tumultuous story with Dual and Dorothy both looking shocked, and Remo with her eyes shut in the middle.

News on advance tickets and the release of music CDs has also been announced. The second round of advance ticket sales will begin on Nov. 21, and a theme song CD and soundtrack will both be released on Jan. 6. Advance tickets this time come with a glittery clear file featuring artwork created by director Masashi Ishihama. There will also be a limited number of advance tickets that come with a CD on sale at the same time. Titled Dual Prototype Starring Risa Taneda, the CD features the image song “Insomnia” (short edit) sung by Dual’s voice actress, Risa Taneda. Advance tickets cost 1,500 yen and 2,500 yen with the CD (both prices include tax), and will be sold at theaters that will screen the movie.

The theme song CD to be released on Jan. 6 features the song “Yume no Tsubomi” sung by the unit Three comprised of Remo (Yumiri Hanamori), Dual (Taneda), and Dorothy (Ayane Sakura). The coupling songs will be “Motto Memory” sung by Remo starring Yumiri Hanamori, and “Oshiete” sung by Dual and Dorothy starring Risa Taneda and Ayane Sakura. The CD costs 1,500 yen (tax included).

The original soundtrack was composed by Yokoyama Masaru who has created music for many anime including Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans and The Anthem of the Heart. On it we’ll be able to hear the movie’s musical gems ahead of the movie’s release. The soundtrack costs 3,240 yen (tax included).

The premiere screening of Garakowa -Restore the World- was held in October at the Tokyo International Film Festival, and there was even a stage greeting that was a huge success. With two months to go until the release, don’t take your eyes off further developments.
