The main cast of the anime Bungo Stray Dogs has been announced. The splendid cast, beginning with Yuuto Uemura who will play main character Atsushi Nakajima, will play a cast of characters themed on famous novelists.
An exhibit booth will also be set up for the anime during the two-day event Animate Girls Festival 2015 (AGF 2015) to be held on Nov. 7 and 8. A drama CD has also been slated to release just before the anime too, giving fans a chance to be among the first to hear the characters’ voices.
Yuuto Uemura, who is also active in the realm of acting, has been chosen for the role of main character Atsushi Nakajima. Uemura’s previous experience playing a main character includes Tsukito Totsuka in Kamigami no Asobi, as well as others. Mamoru Miyano will be playing the role of Osamu Dazai. Fans are no doubt curious as to how Miyano, who has played a wide array of main characters in such series as Mobile Suit Gundam 00 and Wooser’s Hand-to-Mouth Life, will play the role of a popular novelist.
Additional cast members include Yoshimasa Hosoya as Doppo Kunikida, Hiroshi Kamiya as Ranpo Edogawa, Yoshiyuki Toyonaga as Junichiro Tanizaki, Hiroyuki Kagura as Kenji Miyazawa, Yu Shimamura as Akiko Yosano, Chiaki Omigawa as Naomi Tanizaki, Rikiya Koyama as Yukichi Fukuzawa, and Kensho Ono as Ryunosuke Akutagawa. No doubt a big highlight of the anime will be how these cast members all playing literary masters will interact together.
Bungo Stray Dogs fan items will be on sale in advance at the event AGF 2015. These will include not just everyday staples like badges and acrylic keychains that feature exclusive artwork of the characters in chibi form, but also items that seem like they would have a place in the series’ world including a book-shaped mirror, book covers, and a bookmark set. This lineup of products available in advance also includes a drama CD, which will give fans the chance to hear the characters’ voices before the anime. The content of the drama CD also includes something else to look forward to: a spin-off story to volume 1 of the original manga. AGF 2015 will be held in Ikebukuro Sunshine City and other locations on Nov. 7 and 8.
