On Sept. 19, a Tokyo Ghoul event began on the fifth floor of Kotobukiya Akihabara that celebrates the release of the scale figure “ArtFX J Ken Kaneki - Awakened Ver.” The event will run until Sept. 27.
The figure shows the awakened version of Ken Kaneki, main character of the hit anime Tokyo Ghoul. It is 1/8 scale and stands at 225 millimeters tall. It’s priced at 11,000 yen (plus tax).
The world of Tokyo Ghoul can be enjoyed from a variety of perspectives at the ongoing special event celebrating the figure’s release. In addition to displays centered on Tokyo Ghoul and Tokyo Ghoul √A, limited products are also on hand that have a “ghoulish” aesthetic to them.
For the duration of the event, a cafe space styled after the coffee shop Anteiku will be open inside the venue as well. Customers can get one of three available “Ghoul Masks” with a purchase of 3,000 yen or more. Attendees to the event will also receive as a free present one of seven available “CCG Ghoul Investigation Documents.”
Regarding the event, Kotobukiya Akihabara Store Manager Wataru Mikuni gave us the scoop, saying, “I didn’t think we’d be able to pull off a big event in time with the figure’s release, but I considered producing limited items and constructing a cafe. Being that it’s a popular anime, we were careful to preserve its image.” According to Mikuni, the most ordered item in the cafe is one themed after Yoshimura, the “Master Coffee” (500 yen). “It’s an impressive drink that even shows up in the series, so the number of orders has been overwhelming. Those in the area, please stop by and try it.”
The release celebration event for the “ArtFX J Ken Kaneki - Awakened Ver.” scale figure will be ongoing until Sept. 27.
