The “Evangelion and Japanese Swords Exhibit” is highly praised for its displays of a variety of newly made Japanese swords inspired by the world and weapons of Evangelion. It is currently being held at the Iwate Prefectural Hall in Morioka, Iwate Prefecture until Sept. 27.
Now, a high quality doll of Asuka Langley Shikinami has been introduced that faithfully recreates the exhibit’s main visual. Pre-orders began on Aug. 17 at noon on the shopping site Takara Tomy Mall.
The visual of Asuka for the “Evangelion and Japanese Swords Exhibit” features her in a kimono in the same bright red color of her plugsuit that suites her exceptionally well. This has now been developed by Takara Tomy into a doll that gets all the details right.
The “Shikinami Plugsuit” dagger imitates the design of her plugsuit. The deep crimson scabbard and blade that casts a faint light are expressed perfectly even down to the material. The doll also comes with an exclusive sword rack too that can be placed and used as a decoration.
With dagger in hand, the doll gives off a “battle otome” feel and synchronizes with the world of Evangelion.
The kimono uses a deep red fabric and features a pattern of tree peonies. It really suits the determined Asuka well.
And the obi has an A.T. Field motif. The fact that it’s so laid back you might not have noticed it had we not pointed it out is a huge highlight!
In addition, the headset, zori, and themed pedestal of this Asuka Japanese-style doll are all fully detailed too.
The back of the package for the doll features an illustration of Asuka specially drawn just for the occasion. Asuka is but part 1 of a continuing series that will include Mari Illustrious Makinami as part 2 and Rei Ayanami as part 3, and when all three boxes are lined up they create a complete picture that looks like a folding screen.
As expected of this “ultimate Japanese-style doll” by Takara Tomy, it has a high price tag of 15,000 yen (plus tax), but being the perfect decoration for those who like Eva and Japanese swords, it’s totally worth it, right?
