Huge Batch of Character Visuals Released for Stage Play “Tokyo Ghoul”!

Character visuals of main character Ken Kaneki and all other characters have been released from the stage play Tokyo Ghoul, an adaptation that has generated a huge buzz. Performances will begin in July in Tokyo and Kyoto.

The visuals released show main character Ken Kaneki played by Yuki Ogoe from the front in ghoul form, Toka Kirishima as Aya Tabata, Nishiki Nishio as Shogo Suzuki, Hideyoshi Nagachika as Shuto Miyazaki, and Rize Kamishiro as Yuri Hamada. Unique visuals have also been released for characters Uta played by Mitsu Murata, Renji Yomo played by Tomokazu Yoshida, and Yamori played by Yoshikata Yamagami. Additional cast members include Masaaki Okuno as Asaki Fueguchi, Yuki Kimisawa as Kotaro Amon, Jiyu Arima as Kureo Mado, and Tadayoshi Kato as Yoshimura.

Tokyo Ghoul is a manga by Sui Ishida that was serialized in Weekly Young Jump from September 2011 to September 2014. The second part of the series, Tokyo Ghoul: Re, began serialization in October 2014. The series is highly popular and has broken through 12 million tankobon volumes in print. A TV anime adaptation began in July 2014, and the second season, Tokyo Ghoul √A, was broadcast for three months beginning in January of this year.

Directing the stage play is Isamu Kayano who has been active in stage plays across a wide variety of genres including Break Through!, Rokudenashi Blues by theater troupe Exile’s Flower and Wind groups, AKB49 ~Renai Kinshi Jorei~, and others. Handling the script is Chuji Mikasano who continues his role from the anime. Creating the music is Go Sakabe whose past endeavors cover music for tokusatsu shows, anime, and games, including the opening theme to Ressha Sentai ToQger.
