“Comet Lucifer” Broadcast Premieres Oct. 4

Anime production studio 8-Bit’s first original anime, Comet Lucifer, will begin broadcasting this fall. The broadcast premiere date has been set for Oct. 4 on Tokyo MX. In addition, a key visual showing the main characters has also been posted. And with music group fhána’s second music video that features their song “Cosmos no You ni” available to stream too, things are heating up all at once.

Comet Lucifer will premiere on Tokyo MX and KBS Kyoto on Oct. 4, with subsequent broadcasts beginning on Sun TV and BS11 on Oct. 6.

The newly released key visual shows the main characters together. There’s protagonist Sougo Amagi, whose hobby is collecting crystals, and Felia, a mysterious girl whom Sougo meets by chance, and they’re shown riding a vehicle that appears in the series. The visual makes us anxious to find out what the setting of the series will be like.

For the anime, music videos, not general promotional videos, have been developed as a unique way to preview the anime. The second of these features the song “Cosmos no You ni” by music group fhána, who are also creating the anime’s opening theme, and gives a taste of the series’ world. The opening theme will be a different song, so look forward to a follow-up report regarding it.

Coming ahead of the fall broadcast, the anime’s official smartphone app has begun service. The app features a “live story explanation” function and will be automatically updated in time with the TV broadcast. It’s a convenient way to get information in sync with each episode. And beginning Sept. 19, the first episode will be available to download in advance through the app. Being able to stream the first episode in advance through an official, stand-alone app will be a first in the world of anime.

Episodes 1 and 2 of the anime will also be screened in advance at Toho Cinemas Shinjuku on Oct. 3, the day before the broadcast premiere. Planned to appear on stage are Yusuke Kobayashi, voice of Sougo Amagi, Ayaka Ohashi, voice of Felia, and Ayaka Suwa, voice of Otto Motou, and attendees will likely be able to hear their enthusiasm for the anime.
