A visual and cast information for the stage play Haikyu!! have been released. A closing performance in Tokyo has also been announced. This confirms the announcement made in the newest issue of Weekly Shonen Jump on sale Sunday, July 13. Popular actors abound in the cast, including Kenta Suga as main character Shoyo Hinata. The stage play has become a huge topic since the release of the back-shot visual in the June 29 issue of Weekly Shonen Jump.
The Haikyu!! stage play will make use of the latest technology to recreate the intense matches of the original manga, and will be performed as a “Hyper Projection Engeki” play. The visual released this time shows the main characters of Karasuno High lined up. This striking visual will likely raise fans’ anticipation all the more. Ten characters are revealed in the visual.
Kenta Suga, who is playing Shoyo Hinata, has worked on many series, including the drama Hito ni Yasashiku, which he was bathed in attention for, and the Sunset on Third Street series following, among others. He also played Gaara in Live Spectacle Naruto.
Playing Tobio Kageyama is Tatsunari Kimura, who played in the Prince of Tennis Musical and Live Spectacle Naruto as Kabuto Yakushi. The rest of the cast released this time is a lineup of young actors who have experience in stage plays and more, and whom fans anticipate great things from.
In other news, closing performances in Tokyo have been confirmed. It had been previously revealed that performances of the play would be held from November to December in Tokyo, Osaka, and Miyagi, but newly revealed is that closing performances will be held in AiiA 2.5 Theater Tokyo from Dec. 10–13. Tickets will go on sale Sept. 27 at 10:00 a.m., and being that the series is a hot topic, this date will likely be one that gains attention.
