Masterpieces of the Past Lined Up! “Manga*Anime*Games from Japan” Exhibit

On June 24 in Nogizaka in Tokyo, an exhibition for otaku called “Manga*Anime*Games from Japan” started. The large-scale exhibit is being held in the wide-open space of the National Art Center. It’s open until Aug. 31.

This exhibition is about the anime, manga, and games produced during the 25-year period between the passing of Osamu Tezuka in 1989 and the present, introduced according to 8 themes. There are displays for everything from nostalgic, old video game systems and manga to new anime key frames.

Section 4: Encounters and Gatherings: Games as “Places” area. The nostalgic Super Nintendo(Super NES®). For people to play on their own and pass on to other attendees.

Every detailed exhibit is prepared using plenty of everything, from the former masterpieces to the latest releases. The head researcher of the National Art Center, Taizo Muroya, who is in charge of the exhibit, said, “The displays constructed were themed based on the wide range of genres found in Japanese manga, anime, and games in everyone’s lives. We hope that you enjoy them.” The collection of the various popular works developed over the past 25 years is truly a masterpiece.

Section 8: The Creator’s Handiwork area. “Wonderful works are created through the implementation of the creators’ pickiness and philosophies. We hope that you can feel how the makers felt during the making process as you look at these.” - Muroya

The “Manga*Anime*Games from Japan” exhibit has come just in time for summer vacation, lasting until the end of August. To those coming to visit Tokyo, be sure not to miss it.
