“Boruto” Visual Specially Drawn by Masashi Kishimoto Gets Released; Kana-Boon Confirmed as Theme Song Artist

A visual has been released to the film Boruto: Naruto the Movie which will be released in Japan on Aug. 7. Moreover, the theme song has been confirmed to be “Diver” by the band Kana-Boon.

The main visual to the movie was drawn just for the occasion by author Masashi Kishimoto. The film is titled after Naruto’s son, Boruto, and the visual shows the next generation of characters. Standing in front of Naruto and Sasuke is a full lineup of new characters, for which production drawings have been made available: Boruto Uzumaki, Sarada Uchiha, Inojin, Shikadai, Chocho, and Mitsuki.

Kana-Boon, the band that sings the film’s theme song, “Diver,” was also in charge of “Silhouette,” the opening theme of the TV anime Naruto Shippuden. The single for “Diver” will be released on Aug. 5. Limited edition sets that come with a collaboration tote bag between Boruto and Kana-Boon will also be available at Loppi and HMV locations.

Boruto: Naruto the Movie is a part of the Naruto New Era Opening Project. The project began with the film The Last: Naruto the Movie released in December 2014, which made the most box office earnings in the series to date, surpassing 1.98 billion yen.

There is also the stage play Live Spectacle Naruto for which overseas performances are being held, and the “Serialization Conclusion Commemoration: Masashi Kishimoto Naruto Exhibit,” ongoing since April of this year, which has become quite popular. The forthcoming film can be said to be a compilation of this gigantic project.

It seems anticipations will rise with the release of this newest visual. A point of interest from here on will be details on the story. Keep it here for follow-up reports.

Comment from Kana-Boon:
“We are confident that we are more full of love for Naruto than any other artists, so we were truly ecstatic when we got the offer! Even when we were put on charge of singing the anime’s opening theme, “Silhouette,” it was a huge achievement, and one of our biggest challenges this time is jumping over this hurdle. We put into the title of the song, “Diver,” thoughts of jumping in, of taking that first step to somewhere new! We’ve created a song that depicts Boruto, who overcomes loneliness and chagrin to keep moving forward step by step, while overlapping it with parts of ourselves too! It doesn’t get any better than this!!”

Comment from Masashi Kishimoto:
“I received a staggering blow when I listened to the anime’s opening theme, “Silhouette.” The song expressed that thoughts I had knocked around up till that time for Naruto, and it moved me to tears. I thought there was no other option than to request Kana-Boon to create the theme song for this forthcoming film, and they created “Diver” specially for it. I think “Diver” is a song many people can relate to - it’s a wonderful song. I will definitely start crying again if the song starts playing during the film’s ending!”
