Details have been released for the event that will be bustling with cosplayers from all over the world, World Cosplay Summit 2015. WCS will be held this year over a total of four days: July 25 and 28, and Aug. 1 and 2. The main event of WCS, the World Cosplay Championship, will be held on Aug. 1 in the Aichi Arts Center Grand Hall. Representative cosplayers from countries/regions all over the world will battle it out on this big stage.
WCS is a cosplay event that has been held since 2003 in Nagoya. The World Cosplay Championship, at which the world’s best cosplayers are crowned from among those who made it through their country’s preliminary round, is a spectacle that not just Japan but the entire world takes notice of. This year, cosplayers from 26 different countries who won the preliminary round will perform on stage in costume, and they will battle to be the best.
The opening ceremony of WCS 2015 will be held on July 25 along with the event “Laguna Ten Bosch x World Cosplay Summit All-Night Cosplay Fes 2015.” On July 28 will be the event “Meiji-mura Cosplay with Word Cosplay Summit.” And on Aug. 2 will be the Osu Cosplay Parade, Niconico Cosplay Collection, and Nagoya Anisong Fes 2015, all of which will offer a variety of entertainment to enjoy. Live viewings are also scheduled for the World Cosplay Championship which will be held on Aug. 1. Many fans all over the world will be able to enjoy the moment when the Grand Champions are crowned.
Tickets to this year’s World Cosplay Championship went on sale at Circle K Sunkus locations on June 15. A video was also made available on the same day in which the event’s official character designer, Mel Kishida, introduces the highlights in store for WCS 2015. With WCS bringing such excitement every year, attention will surely rise from here on regarding what kind of cosplay and performances we’ll get to see this time.
