[J-Fashion] pays des fees: Spectacularly Unique & Confident Style

Welcome back to our new Japanese fashion blog! This entry is all about indie designer brand pays des fees, which always manages to amaze and astonish us with their radically creative clothing and wide range of styles. Designs by pays des fees are both avant-garde and impressively wearable! Let us take you through a few examples.

This mysterious and dapper-looking lady is modeling one of the brand’s classic designs, their playful Newspaper Bubble Dress.

The pattern is unusual and eye-catching, but the fit is very flattering!

This dress, from the pays des fees 2012 collection, has an overall silhouette similar to the Newspaper Bubble Dress (minus the style of the hem).

Called the [Bug] Dress, it’s another perennial favorite. The print is definitely quite memorable!

The TOM Premium Shop recently had the privilege of adding items from the 2014 and 2015 pays des fees collections!

Those shoes definitely deserve a closer look.

This beautifully coordinated outfit is composed of items from the pays des fees Poison Dart Frog collection.

The vivid tights come in three different variations: Bassleri, Blue, and Yellow-Banded (shown here). “Bassleri” comes from the scientific name of a colorful species of poison dart frog.

pays des fees also knocks it out of the park with more subdued looks. This seems like a fairly laid-back dress when you see it from the front….

But turn around, and the full-graphic print on the back is downright mesmerizing.

Now we’d like to share some pieces from their latest collection. As you can see, it gives off a very different vibe from the Poison Dart Frog series!

The clever trompe l'oeil details around the neckline remind us a little bit of the [Bug] dress.

These garments belong to the Horse’s Bride collection.

You can see how they express the collection’s theme both through delicate patterns like this one….

And with wildly colorful, fearless designs like the one on the back of the Horse's Bride Polo Shirt, as shown above.

We’re really big fans of this shirt overall. It’s pretty rare to find a full-graphic shirt that not only features unique details on the front and the back, but also has a fitted shape--much more like a tailored blouse than your standard full-graphic T-shirt.

Honestly, we can’t imagine ever getting tired of looking at clothing by pays des fees. It’s impossible to guess what they’ll come up with next, but that’s what makes each new collection so much fun to explore. Lim (the brand’s designer) has a free spirit that really comes through in every single garment.
