Yowamushi Pedal: The Movie release date slated for Aug. 28; Yowamushi Pedal: Re:Road new edited version of season 2 also announced
At the Yowamushi Pedal: Grande Road special event Le Tour de YowaPeda 2015, the release date of Yowamushi Pedal: The Movie was confirmed to be Friday, Aug. 28. It was also revealed that a newly edited version of Yowamushi Pedal: Grande Road titled Yowamushi Pedal: Re:Road would open in theaters.
The event Le Tour de YowaPeda 2015 at which the aforementioned was announced was themed after Yowamushi Pedal: Grande Road. It was held at Pacifico Yokohama on Sunday, May 17. Appropriately for this event at which 5,000 fans gathered, big announcements were made in succession.
Yowamushi Pedal is a manga by Wataru Watanabe currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Champion (Akita Shoten). Serialization began in 2008 and 39 tankobon volumes have been published. The series is hugely popular, with over 13 million copies in print. The first season of the TV anime began in October 2013, and the second season, Yowamushi Pedal: Grande Road, was broadcast from October 2014 to March 2015. The series has gained support from a large fanbase, and it is this popularity that has pushed this new movie into being a reality.
The excitement at Le Tour de YowaPeda 2015 was largely pumped up by the 15 members of the wonderful voice cast who performed in front of roughly 5,000 fans. In addition to cast talks, there were also live performances of the opening and ending songs. It was a day of nothing but Yowamushi Pedal.
In addition to the announcement of the movie’s release date at the event, a second news report was also released. This revealed that a new re-edited version of the second season, Yowamushi Pedal: Grande Road, titled Yowamushi Pedal: Re:Road will be released on Friday June 12 for a 2-week run, an announcement that sparked loud cheers from the crowd.
To close out the event, Daiki Yamashita, the voice of main character Sakamichi Onoda, heated up fans’ anticipation, saying, “With the movie’s release around the corner, I will put my all into pedalling from hereon too, so everyone let’s pedal together!” The event then came to a close with the entire cast shouting out enthusiastically, “Everyone in Yowamushi Pedal is an ace!”
The release of the re-edited Yowamushi Pedal: Re:Road is surely good news for fans who can’t wait for the release of Yowamushi Pedal: The Movie. The theme song is “Believer” by Last Gasp, and original interhigh tin badges have been confirmed as a bonus for moviegoers. Keep it here for follow-up reports and new screenshots to come.
