Kamikaze Douga “Cocolors” Teaser Video Released; Part 2 of the Gasoline Mask Project
A teaser video has been released for “Cocolors,” the second part of the Gasoline Mask project created by Kamikaze Douga. The character wearing a gas mask and the unique work lend to the work’s impressiveness.
“Cocolors” takes place several hundred years following an eruption of Mt. Fuji that caused a massive disaster. Humans must live deep underground and wear full-body protective suits with enormous masks. The story focuses on two young boys who live in this cruel environment: Aki and Fuyu. The work is themed after “colors” and the impressive video is heavy with several layers, similar to a woodblock print, of various “colors” including complexions, vocal tones, sound tones, and more. Even the world is unique, with the daily lives of its inhabitants consisting of exiting to the outside world and collecting relics from the time before. Just what awaits Aki, who becomes a member of a scouting party out of a promise made to Fuyu when they were young?
Toshihisa Yokoshima is taking a large part in the work, from music videos to commercials, as the director, writer, storyboard artist, and producer. Yokoshima has brought countless works to the world including the music video for the song “Ai Subeki Mirai e” by group Exile, “Joshi Full Marathon” of the omnibus film Tokyo Onlypic, the movie Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions, and others.
The cast includes Ameri Ishii as Aki, Atsuya Okada as Fuyu, and MIyuki Sawashiro as the narrator.
In other news, the 2009 Kamikaze Douga original work Amanatsu directed by Yokoshima is available now in its entirety. Because it was only previously screened at the Locarno International Film Festival in 2009 and the Tokyo International Anime Fair in 2010, this is a fantastic chance for fans. Seeing it may even help to understand “Cocolors.”
