In its April 2 episode of Nintendo Direct, Nintendo confirmed a September 2015 release for the Wii U game Mario Maker.

The game allows players themselves to create stages for Mario to adventure through. Players can fill stages as they please with blocks, pipes, and enemies, and they can share their completed stages with players all over the world.

Mario Maker Highlights
*Create and Play*
With Mario Maker, players use the Wii U GamePad to create as they please side-scrolling courses to play in. By just placing objects from the Mario franchise in a course––such as various characters, blocks, and more––anyone can easily create their own course.

Game Skins
Four game skins can be swapped out at anytime, from an 8-bit NES-era Mario to the Wii U New Super Mario Bros. U, giving players the ability to enjoy the unique action from each of these worlds.

Share Courses
After completing a course, players can upload it to the Internet so that players all over the world can enjoy it too. Players may want to aim for creating tons of fun courses and becoming a famous course artisan.

Download Courses
Of course, players all over the world can download shared courses and play through them. Even if making courses isn’t your thing, you’ll still be able to fully enjoy the game’s Mario worlds.
