The spin-off of the Underwater Knee-High Girls series, a photo collection depicting girls wearing knee-high socks underwater, titled Amphibious Knee-High Girls was released on April 3 (Fri). It is priced at ¥1,000.
It is an unconventional picture collection featuring girls wearing knee-high socks with their swimsuits who climbed out of the water and onto land.
It is available for purchase at related events such as the photo exhibition Underwater Knee-High Girls Kyoto Exhibition held from April 3 or the club event Underwater organized by “Underwater Knee-High Girls,” to be held on April 13 (Mon.).
Why were they taken out of the water...?
The Underwater Knee-High Girls series was brought to life by designer, photographer, and video maker Manabu Koga. Until present, he published Underwater Knee-High Girls in 2013 and Underwater Knee-High Girls Plus in 2014, and even organized exhibitions coordinated with those dates.
Amphibious Knee-High Girls is a piece made in answer to hesitant comments posed toward the Underwater Knee-High Girls series, such as “Why do they go underwater?” and “It’s too obscure.”
As the collection features girls wearing competition swimsuits and knee-high socks on land, even those who wondered why the girls would go into the water can relax and take this volume in their hands.
However, Amphibious Knee-High Girls was made to be no more than an April Fools joke.
As Koga himself commented on Twitter, “Amphibious Knee-High Girls (regular knee-high girls),” it’s hard to brush off the doubt that this is indeed but a regular swimsuit collection, but you can still give it a try if you happen to go to the exhibition.
