A screening and talk event for the TV anime Space Dandy will be held at Toho Cinemas Nihonbashi on March 21. The event is but one project planned to be held at the international anime film festival Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2015 (TAAF 2015), and members of the cast and staff will make stage appearances.
The event will look back at the anime Space Dandy, which was broadcast last year. On the day of the event, members of the popular voice cast including Junichi Suwabe (voice of main character Dandy), Uki Satake (voice of QT), and Hiroyuki Yoshino (voice of Meow), will take the stage. They will be joined by writer Tai Sato who will MC the event as they look back at the 2014 broadcast. Since the event comes after the end of the broadcast, we can expect behind-the-scenes info on the production and stories from the post-recording.
Another curious point will be which episode of the 26 total they will choose to screen. Since this is a fantastic opportunity to see Space Dandy on the big screen, it will likely be packed with throngs of fans. Event tickets went on sale on the theaters’ official site on March 6. Tickets cost 2,000 yen for general seating and 2,700 yen for premium box seating (both prices include tax).
Space Dany is a sci-fi anime for which two seasons have aired, with season 1 broadcasting from January to March 2014 and season 2 broadcasting from July to September. The series gained acclaim for its staff that includes many of the same members who worked on the ‘90s anime Cowboy Bebop. A large characteristic of the show is the artistic quality that changes with each episode, and episodes were developed to squeeze out every last bit of the team’s creativeness.
TAAF 2015 will run from March 19–23 at Toho Cinemas Nihonbashi.
