‘Robot Girls Z Plus’ to Start in Spring 2015, Based Off Toei Manga Matsuri Feature Films

Robot Girls Z is an anime short series centered around the lively activities of a fleet of cute girls, who are anthropomorphized versions of the robots which appear in Super Robot anime series, based off the original manga by Go Nagai. Robot Girls Z originally gained its popularity with three characters: Z-chan, based off Mazinger Z; Gure-chan, based off Great Mazinger; and Grenda-chan, based off Grendizer. Later, the show expanded its range of characters to encompass several other works, including characters based off of Getter Robo, Steel Jeeg, Daiku-Maryu Gaiking, Getter Robo Go, and many others. Gathering generations of Super Robots, this anime became a series which is both fresh and nostalgic at the same time.

The instant smash-hit anime short series Robot Girls Z, produced by Toei Animation, was aired on the Toei Channel from January to March of 2014. It has been announced that the continuation of this series will begin airing in the spring of 2015. This new series is expected to retain a style of humor similar to the previous series, and once again present the complete and utter defeat of the cute girls on the opposing side. The new series will have a total of six episodes, with one episode released per month. The broadcasting network has yet to be announced.

Yet there is even more intriguing news. Apparently this new series is based off two movies which were released at the Toei Manga Matsuri, the 1975 movies Great Mazinger vs. Getter Robo and Great Mazinger vs. Getter Robo G: The Great Space Encounter. This series will surely be a surprise for the old fans.

What new dangers will befall our Robot Girls?! Will this be a revival of the 1970’s masterpiece? Undoubtedly these questions grab the curiosity of fans and non-fans alike. The characters appearing in this series include Team Z, reform Team G, Team LOD, Team Go, and more, the large number of characters being another one of the charming points of this series.

Also starting in the spring of 2015 will be the web radio series Robot Girls Radio: Kikanakya Zenin Furubokko DaZ! Plus on Bushiroad Music. Without a doubt, Robot Girls Z, the series that came tumbling in as a great surprise, will continue to draw attention throughout the year.
