A Book About Working to Achieve Your Dreams - 81 Produce Devotes Full Support to ‘Seiyu-san ni Naritai!’

The occupation of seiyu (voice star), which breathes life into anime characters, is a popular occupation that currently ranks high on rankings of the dream jobs of elementary and middle school students. However, there is much more to the craft than what has been shown thus far. There is no shortage of those in the role who are active in ways similar to idols - singing theme songs to series, performing at events, and more.

Seiyu-san ni Naritai!, a book that chronicles the road to realizing the dream of becoming an anime seiyu (voice star), was published by Kodansha in November. With the full support of main seiyu agency 81 Produce, the series explains in an easy to understand way the work of a seiyu. Beginning in January, interviews will be conducted with the popular cast members who play in TV anime.

Seiyu-san ni Naritai! explains through photos and diagrams the everyday lives of professional seiyu, including study and training. The book is aimed at a wide audience, from elementary school kids to high schoolers, and introduces the occupation of being a seiyu.

The special interviews feature comments from Reina Ueda, the voice of Elena in the upcoming TV anime World Break: Aria of Curse for a Holy Swordsman; Rumi Okubo, the voice of Nona in Death Parade; and Wataru Hatano, the voice of Jiro in the second season of Kamisama Kiss. Also included are Soma Saito, the voice of Tatsumi in Akame ga Kill!, and Ryusei Nakao, an extremely well-known veteran from such roles as Baikinman in Soreike! Anpanman and Frieza in Dragon Ball Z. Fans will be able to enjoy valuable points from these five.

The book carefully explains a seiyu’s daily schedule, what they are normally careful of, the differences between school and training, and more. It also offers guidance on abdominal breathing, techniques for getting into the role of a character, being a self-producer, how to seize opportunities, and other practical information. All in all, it’s a perfect job book for those looking to become a seiyu. The book costs 1,400 yen (tax excluded).
