Yui Ishikawa, who is known for her role as Mikasa Ackerman in the hugely popular anime Attack on Titan, has drawn big reactions after having performed as a guest at the event Lucca Comics & Games held from Oct. 30 to Nov. 2 in Lucca, Italy.

Lucca Comics & Games, the oldest comic-related event in Europe, began in 1966 and this year marked its 46th time being held. As a comic and game event, Lucca Comics & Games is the second largest event of its kind in the world and its popularity has grown year after year, making it a colossal event attended by anime and game fans from all over Europe.

At Lucca Comics & Games this year was an official Attack on Titan flash mob called “Attack on Lucca,” as well as other grandiose introductions to the series.

Attack on Lucca was held inside Japan Town, a pavilion that sells nothing but Japanese pop culture content. Using a whole soccer field, the local anison singer passionately sung “Crimson Bow and Arrow” on the Karaoke DAM sound system, and local cosplayers joined in as well by performing as different characters. More on the day of the event will be published on the official page of “Attack on Titan x DAM” so look forward to it.

Ishikawa also appeared in an official talk show at the event sponsored by DYNIT as a surprise guest for her role as Mikasa Ackerman in Attack on Titan. This official talk show was a limited event that only 200 people chosen by raffle were able to attend, and many hopefuls flooded in for their chance. At the event, there was a screening of the first two episodes of the anime Attack on Titan, and fans flooded in for the signing that closed out the event, indicating Ishikawa’s popularity.

Ishikawa also appeared as a guest judge in the karaoke competition “DAM Presents Nippon World Karaoke Grand Prix” also held during Lucca Comics & Games. She performed two songs on the main stage––“Lucifer no Tsumi to Bachi” and “Mayu”––to which she received huge cheers and applause from the local fans.

Ishikawa was warmly welcomed by local fans throughout Lucca Comics & Games. This could perhaps be said to be proof of the high popularity of Attack on Titan and Ishikawa in Europe.
