New information has been revealed for the anime Tamayura, which was announced to be concluding with a four-part movie series. The official title of the movie series is Tamayura: Sotsugyou Shashin, and Part 1: Me - Kizashi will begin a limited two-week screening on April 4, 2015. Along with this information, a key visual and synopsis have also been released.
The Tamayura series is set in the city of Takehara, Hiroshima Prefecture and tells the come-of-age story of a female high school student named Fu Sawatari who connects with others through her interest in photography. Tamayura picked up popularity in 2010 with the release of an OVA series, then came the TV anime Tamayura: Hitotose in 2011 and the second season, Tamayura: More Aggressive, in 2013.
The key visual to the first part of the concluding Tamayura: Sotsugyou Shashin series was drawn just for the occasion by character designer and chief animation director Haruko Iizuka. It depicts Fu and her three friends facing the bright spring sunshine and walking along with smiles on their faces. The vibrant image shows their slightly grown up appearances now that they’re juniors in high school, along with their smiles that remain unchanged.
Part 1 of the movie series will be a spring episode when the four friends become juniors in high school. Two underclassmen also enter the photography club, and along with the addition of new friends, the characters continue their constantly busy daily lives. Meanwhile, Fu and her friends begin thinking more and more about their future dreams and careers. It seems a certain feeling has sprouted in Fu, who thinks back on the days she has enjoyed so far. What will their futures be like? Look forward to this first part that begins the story leading up to their graduation.
A broadcast of selected Tamayura OVA and episodes of the TV series will begin on Tokyo MX on Jan. 8, 2015. There will be 12 episodes total including the special edit of the OVA and a never-before-broadcast episode of Tamayura: More Aggressive. An event called Tamayura School Promotion Event 2015 will also be held on March 15. Details are forthcoming and will be released on the official site.
