The broadcast to Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata will begin in January 2015 during Fuji TV’s anime programming block, Noitamina. The original work is a light novel of the same name by author Fumiaki Maruto and illustrator Kurehito Misaki. It began being published in July 2012, and is currently up to its sixth volume with seven short story collections also available. Up until now, Noitamina has brought to the world countless popular anime. It’s forte is works overflowing with uniqueness, and Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata will now be among this list. Being a little over a month left until the broadcast, a new key visual has also been released.
In the title of the series, “heroine” is read even though the Japanese word used is kanojo (girl). Main character and high school student Tomoya Aki gets a part-time job during spring break in order to buy anime Blu-rays and ends up becoming interested in a girl he meets on a hill covered in scattered cherry blossoms and is struck with the idea of creating a game modeled after her being the main heroine.
Aki can’t actually drawn though, so he calls on help from art ace and same year student Eriri Spencer Sawamura along with the school’s top honor student and Aki’s upperclassman, Utaha Kasumigaoka. Along with help from Megumi Kato, an unassuming, “ordinary” girl Aki becomes infatuated with and whom the heroine of the game is based on, creation on the game begins. This is a story that centers on both game creation and adolescence at the same time.
At the present, a portion of the cast has already been announced. The cast includes Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Tomoya Aki, Saori Onishi as Eriri Spencer Sawamura, Ai Kayano as Utaha Kasumigaoka, Kiyono Yasuno as Megumi Kato, Sayuri Yahagi as Michiru Hyodo, Chinatsu Akasaki as Izumi Hashima, and Tetsuya Kakihara as Iori Hashima.
It has been confirmed that character songs will release on Dec. 3, and these include the simultaneous release of three character CDs by Saori Onishi, Ai Kayano, and Kiyono Yasuno. This as well is a magnificent strategy. The jacket on each CD is a paper jacket with an illustration drawn just for the occasion by original character planner Kurehito Misaki.
Moreover, it’s almost time for the “Noitamina Project 2015 Press Conference” to be held on Nov. 30. There, an announcement video for Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata will be shown for the first time, the artists for the opening and ending themes will be announced, and a talk show will be held.
Don’t miss more information to come. Since up until now Noitamina has never had a show based on a light novel, we can look forward to what the anime will be like.
