A Cardcaptor Sakura original art exhibit, a project to introduce the world of creative unit Clamp’s representative work Cardcaptor Sakura, will be held from the end of 2014 to into 2015. This project will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Clamp’s debut and the 60th anniversary of the magazine the series was published in, Nakayoshi (Kodansha).

The exhibit will begin at Tokyo Solamachi in the fifth floor Space 634 and will be held from Dec. 27 to Jan. 4. From there, it will be held at Nagoya Maruei from Feb. 26 to March 3 and at the Daimaru Shinsaibashiten Kitakan in the 14th floor event hall from March 21-29.

Cardcaptor Sakura was published in the shoujo manga magazine Nakayoshi from 1996-2000. In the series, the main character, a fourth-year elementary school student named Sakura Kinomoto, is given a mission to collect the Clow Cards created and scattered around the world by magician Clow Reed. Sakura’s story becomes one of growth toward adulthood through love and magic.

Though Clamp has created countless hits, Cardcaptor Sakura is an especially large hit that became their representative work. Originally, many fans of the series were elementary and middle school students, and the series became a TV anime in 1999 and a theatrical anime followed. Due to these, the series’ abundance and charms became known. More than this, though, the series has acquired female and male fans of older generations and is supported by a wide fanbase.

Many original pieces of artwork will be on display at the exhibit. The original artwork will likely be something through which the world of the series can be experienced. Look forward to many pieces of original artwork that Clamp put their all into. In addition to this, there are also several projects set in motion in Nakayoshi to bring excitement to Cardcaptor Sakura. On Sept. 17, the “Cardcaptor Sakura Official Online Shop” will open with a lineup of various goods. Also, the actual-size complete 52-card Clow Card set based on the Clow Cards that appear in the series and were drawn for the occasion by Clamp will be re-released. This product, which can be called a Clow Card art collection, is a rare gem fans will be happy about for it being a fan-essential item.
