Today, Aug. 25, Square Enix announced the release date of the Nintendo 3DS game Final Fantasy Explorers to be Dec. 18. The package version will cost 5,800 yen and the download version will cost 4,500 yen (Both prices exclude tax.).

The game is a derivation of the Final Fantasy series and is an action RPG that offers multi-play for up to four players. The game is one in which players progress through the story by completing various quests, and first-release copies of the game will come with a download code for an original quest. By clearing the quest and gathering materials, players can create weapons and armor themed after the Onion Knight from Final Fantasy III. This will be valuable equipment, so fans should get the first-release bonus and challenge the quest.

Also on sale on Square Enix’s shopping site, Square Enix e-Store, is a deluxe edition called “e-Store Limited Box” that includes a soundtrack CD, artbook, multi-use pouch, and more. Square Enix (head office: Shinjuku, Tokyo; CEO: Yousuke Matsuda) has announced the release date and price of the Nintendo 3DS game Final Fantasy Explorers.

Release Date: Dec. 18 (Thurs.)
MSRP: 5,800 yen + tax (package ver.), 4,500 yen + tax (download ver.)

Final Fantasy Explorers is a new genre of game that differs from the standard RPG genre familiar to the long-running Final Fantasy series. The genre of the game is action RPG. The game offers four-player multiplayer through Wi-Fi functionality. The epitome of the game is working through the tactics of your party, creating a good strategy, and clearing quests. The game makes use of components familiar to the series thus far, including summons, monsters, and a job system. Of course, the game can be played and fully enjoyed either in multiplayer or in single player, so there is plenty for fans of the traditional RPG genre to enjoy as well. ■ First-Release Bonus: Final Fantasy III Onion Knight Four-Piece Set
First-release copies of FFEX will include a download code for an original quest in which players can obtain equipment based on the Onion Knight from FFIII. This equipment can be equipped by both male and female characters. By using materials gathered from summons and monsters, players can make new armor and weapons that are even stronger. In celebration of the release of FFEX, a limited edition Ultimate Box will release on the Square Enix e-Store. The Ultimate Box will include the package version of the game, an originally designed Nintendo 3DS XL hard cover, a soundtrack, an artbook, and a multi-use pouch. Each of the bonuses is introduced below.
