The TV anime Yowamushi Pedal based on the popular sports manga of the same name by Wataru Watanabe has become hugely popular in the nine months it has been on the air. It has gathered support from a wide audience that includes kids to adults regardless of gender. The TV anime ended temporarily in June, but the second season will begin soon this October. The title of the second season is Yowamushi Pedal: Grande Road.
“Grande Road” is a coined term that combines the hugely meaningful French word “grande” and the English word “road.” It was thought up from depicting the hard fight that is the home stretch to the final goal on the third day of the inter-high competition. A teaser visual for Season 2 has now been released. Sakamichi looks impressive drawn in a sepia style.
To the surprise of fans, an additional announcement was made on Aug. 7. Yowamushi Pedal will be coming to the big screen for a limited two-week run beginning on Sept. 19. The title of this movie is Yowamushi Pedal Re:Ride. The intense fight of Season 1’s inter-high competition will be shown in a new way on the big screen. This will be a re-edited edition that also includes new scenes. It will be filled with highlights including the tumultuous opening ceremony, the first three-way sprint battle out of the gate, and the famous showdown between Makishima and Toudou. It will be a chance to look back at the work while also enjoying a feeling of newness.
Presents will also be given to moviegoers who see it in theaters. These are 15 kinds of SD character pin badges drawn just for the occasion that are limited in number and will be given out on a first come, first served basis. One random character will be given to each moviegoer. Distribution will end when quantities run out.
