The release schedule of the Blu-ray and DVD of the popular Hakuōki the Movie: Chapter 2 - Shikon Sōkyū, which released in theaters on March 8, has been announced. A total of four versions of the movie will release on Sept. 10: the first-release limited edition on Blu-ray and DVD and the regular edition also on Blu-ray and DVD. This movie is the first in the Hakuōki series, which has tremendous popularity especially among females. The movie features an entirely new story split into two chapters. Shikon Sōkyū is the concluding chapter.
Because the series is so popular, there are no doubt many fans who have already experienced the movie in theaters. Because of that, the Blu-ray and DVD are packed full of features that fans can use to enjoy the movie even more. The software is even complete as a collector’s item, and fans will be able to enjoy the movie on the second and third times through as well. One of the software’s features is the deluxe box drawn for the occasion by Yone Kazuki for the first-release limited edition. On Aug. 1, this gorgeous illustration was released. The illustration shows Hijikata brandishing a sword and looking like he’s staring at someone in his line of sight.
The bonuses in the first-release limited edition include a novel of the movie written for the occasion by planner and writer Tsunekiyo Fujisawa and a soundtrack CD of the movie. Fans can immerse themselves even more deeply in the world of the series through visuals, text, and music. Also included are reproduced films, a deluxe booklet, audio commentary, trailers, TV spot commercials, and a video summary of Hakuōki the Movie: Chapter 1 - Kyoto Ranbu. The price of the first-release limited edition is 8,300 yen on Blu-ray and 7,800 yen on DVD (Both prices exclude tax.). Those who pre-order it will receive as a bonus a reproduced script of Hakuōki the Movie: Chapter 2 - Shikon Sōkyū.
