Fafner in the Azure - Exodus, a new series based on the TV anime Fafner in the Azure which was broadcast from July to December 2004, will begin in January 2015. Prior to this, the event “1st Web Radio Public Recording” was held on June 28. Various new news was announced at the event, including new characters and cast members.
The new cast members revealed are Yui Ishikawa, Nobunaga Shimazaki, and Kenshō Ono who will be playing the characters Mimika Mikagami, Reo Mikado, and Sui Kaburagi, respectively. What kind of dialogue will they have with the returning members from the first series including Makoto Ishii as main character Kazuki Makabe? In addition to this, it has also been announced that a special event titled “Fafner in the Azure - Exodus Complete First Screening - Blessing” will be held on Nov. 15. Details on this event including performers and content will be announced soon on the official site. Advance tickets to the event will be available at Tokyo Big Sight during Comic Market 86 from Aug. 15-17.
Moreover, the serialization of the manga version of this new series will begin this fall in Monthly Shonen Sirius (Kodansha). The first series, Fafner in the Azure, will also be broadcast on Nico Nico Live every Sunday at 21:30 beginning on July 6.
Fafner in the Azure was announced as an original work in 2004, and the TV special Fafner in the Azure - Heaven and Earth was broadcast the following year. The staff of Fafner in the Azure - Exodus is comprised of members from the previous series including chief director Takashi Noto, director Nobuyoshi Habara, and writer Tow Ubukata.
