Daily Play: Have You Noticed “That Secret” Hidden in the Steins;Gate Logo?

The logo in question. Can you find all the numbers?

I never noticed before!
The TV anime Steins;Gate has started broadcasting and the sequel Steins;Gate: Hiyoku Renri no Darling has been announced. Developments in 5pb’s and Nitroplus’ series have become lively once again. Even with a change in author, the anime has spurred on many people to become interested in the series.

So, we’d like to introduce an easter egg we were told about. The Steins;Gate logo is familiar from the games and anime, but have you ever looked at it closely and noticed several numbers hidden within the letters? Those who say “What’s up with that?” should take a minute right now and look very closely at it.

The first thing to notice is the “i” in the fourth letter position. You should see the vertical string of numbers “0.571024.”

Those who have already played the game will surely have a light bulb moment and know what the numbers represent. Without giving away any spoilers, that string of numbers is the numerical value that designates the world line divergence after it is changed by main character Rintarō Okabe by using a certain device. “0.571024” represents the divergence at the beginning of the game.

Arranged vertically is the number string “0.571024.”

However, the mystery doesn’t end there. Look again and you will notice several other hidden numbers.

Look closely at the “i.” Do you see the “1” and decimal point?

A “0” is hidden in the dot of the “i.”

A “4” is hidden in the bottom right of the “n” and an “8” is hidden in the left side of the “s.”

The “5” is easy to spot in the “G.”

A “9” and “6” are hidden in the “t” and “e,” respectively.

So another seven numbers are hidden within the logo. Individually, what the numbers are for is unclear, but when you put them together you get…

1.048596

That’s right, just like the first string of numbers, this represents a world line divergence. However, contrary to the first string, which represents the world line at the start of the game, this number string represents the “true ending” world line. In other words, this means that the beginning of the game all the way up to the true ending was all incorporated into the logo ahead of time. Is this too the will of Steins Gate?

While these world line divergence numbers still haven’t appeared in the anime, they have an extremely important role in the story of Steins;Gate. Those enjoying the anime should be on the lookout for when and how these numbers appear and what meaning they have. After all, isn’t speculating about this and that while watching a more fun way to enjoy it?

We are digressing a bit, but the number string “1.048596” also appears for a brief moment in the teaser movie for the already released Robotics;Notes (the third part of the Science Adventure Series after Chaos;Head and Steins;Gate). Just what is the meaning of this? Don’t take your eyes off Steins;Gate and the rest of the Science Adventure Series to come.
