Daimaru Matsuzakaya, a major department store in Japan, has released on a special site its original manga Nija & Jani.
Nija & Jani is set in a version of Japan that still has strong remnants of ninja culture. The story depicts Nija, a ninja used by Daimaru Matsuzakaya, as he travels around Japan with Jani, a female world traveler, appealing to Japanese culture in entertaining ways.
The manga was created for tourists who come to Japan so that they could enjoy Japan even more. It is available in five languages: English, traditional Chinese, simplified Chinese, Korean, and Japanese.
In Japan, where manga and anime is hugely popular, there are many instances of this type of content being used for TV commercials and advertisements. The manga introduced here was created by Manga Designers Lab, a company that creates advertisements and promotions using manga designs, for PR purposes for Daimaru Matsuzakaya.
Currently ongoing on the special site for Nija & Jani is the “Nija Portrait Campaign.” Upload a picture of yourself for a chance to obtain a drawn portrait or yourself in ninja form for use on SNS and blog sites. On top of this, your portrait may also appear in the manga during the next installment preview as a “newscaster ninja.” Those who are interested should try it out.
