Director Isshin Inudo, who is known as a big name in the world of adolescent movies for his works Josee, the Tiger, and the Fish and Yellow Tears, is challenging himself with overseeing a manga project. The serialization of Sailor Zombie will begin in the May issue of the monthly magazine Hero’s on sale April 1. Sailor Zombie is an adolescent pop horror work that depicts a high school girl fighting in a world overrun with zombies. A highlight will be what kind of world director Inudo, who has created worlds for many movies, will create for the manga.

Director Inudo has had an extensive career that spans directing movies, or course, directing commercials, and even scriptwriting. This manga will be a new challenge for him. Gigi & Pinch, a new duo from which great things are expected, are in charge of the illustrations. Looking toward the serialization, a webpage for the work has opened on which a key visual of a high school girl wielding a bow and arrow has been released.

Hero’s is a manga magazine that collects works themed after heroes. The magazine includes a wide range or serialized works including Ultraman, which depicts the son of the Hayata Squad from the special effects show of the same name, and Hero Company by Kazuhiko Shimamoto whose other works include Nine in Adversity. The fact that a single work may be worked on by several creators is also one of its big characteristics. Many big name creators often participate in creating works for the magazine, such as Soul Revivor which is produced by Tooru Fujisawa, the writer of GTO, and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann: Otoko do Ahou! Volume by Kazuki Nakashima who wrote the work while also working on the anime.

A unique distribution system for selling the magazine to not be employed in stores but rather in convenience stores including 7-Eleven and pachinko shops has also gathered attention. The magazine launched in November 2011, with the Hero’s Comics label launching in 2012, which saw the first releases of the magazine’s works in separate volumes. Being in its fourth year this year, where the magazine will go next is not to be missed.

Sailor Zombie will begin serialization in the May issue of Hero’s (on sale April 1).
