The TV anime One Week Friends will begin broadcasting this April. Now, the cast members of the main characters have been announced. Playing main character Yūki Hase is Yoshitaka Yamaya, and playing the female lead Kaori Fujimiya is Sora Amamiya. This is a fresh seiyū team who is voicing main characters for the first time.
Yoshitaka Yamaya has experience voicing roles in Unbreakable Machine-Doll and Senran Kagura, but this is his first time as a regular character and also the first time being selected as the main character. For Sora Amamiya as well, the is her first time playing a lead character. Amamiya is expected to bring the same enthusiasm to this role that she did to Hisui Midori in Gaist Crusher and Saika Hayase in Wanna be the Strongest in the World. Comments from these two have also been released. How will Yūki’s upright personality and Kaori’s complicated emotions be portrayed? It seems fans’ anticipation will rise from here on.
Along with the announcement of the cast, a promotional video and key visual have also been released. The monologue by Yamaya and Amamiya’s lines in the PV will stir your emotions. The key visual shows the “one week” timeframe between Kaori, who loses her memory of her friends every week, and Yūki, who despite knowing this wants to be her friend. The official site has also been updated and information will continue to be released in preparation for the broadcast.
The animation studio behind the anime is Brains Base which also created Natsume’s Book of Friends. The staff includes Tarō Iwasaki as director, Shōtarō Suga as series composer, and Eri Yamazaki as character designer.
One Week Friends is a manga series created by Matcha Hazuki that is currently serialized in Gangan Joker (Square Enix). It began serialization in 2012 after a one-shot story was published. Currently, four volumes of the manga have been published.

“I was unbelievably happy when I found out that I got the role! I’m also nervous that my first time voicing a regular character is also my first time voicing a main character. Even still, I will play Yūki Hase focusing on the original work so that the staff who chose me and the fans of the original work will say that I did a good job.”
Sora Amamiya (Kaori Fujimiya):
“I want to carefully act out each and every emotion so that I can convey the warmth and delicateness I felt after reading the original work to everyone who watches. Kaori Fujimiya is my first time playing a lead character and I’m very uneasy about it, but I will try my absolute best so I hope you support me!”
