On Jan. 6, it was announced that the anime adaptation of Kamigami no Asobi will begin broadcasting this spring. Information on the broadcast times, staff, and cast has also been revealed. A promotional video is also now available on the official site. Fans can watch the video to get a preview of the anime.
Kamigami no Asobi began as a female-oriented PSP game created by Broccoli and developed by Nippon Ichi Software that was released in October 2013. The story begins with the main character Yui being suddenly transported one day to the world of the gods. Yui then begins attending an academy for gods. There, she is taught by the gods what it is to be human and what it is to love, and something else begins to sprout up. Due to it being a hugely popular series, the anime adaptation is good news for fans.
Directing is Tomoyuki Kawamura, the character planner is Kazuki Yone, the series composter is Tomoko Konparu, and the character designer is Minako Shiba. Music for the anime is being handled by Elements Garden. Brains Base is producing the animation. Due to Brains Base being a studio that has worked on other popular anime including Natsume’s Book of Friends, Amnesia, and Blood Lad, anticipation is high for Kamigami no Asobi as well.
The seiyū cast has also been decided on. The cast includes Miyu Irino as Apollon Agana Berea, Daisuke Ono as Hades Idoneus, Yūto Uemura as Tsukito Totsuka, Toshiyuki Toyonaga as Takeru Totsuka, Hiroshi Kamiya as Baldr Hringhorni, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Loki Leviathan, Yūki Kaji as Anubis Ma’at, and Yoshiyuki Morikawa as Thoth Caduceus. Fans will likely be put at ease due to the seiyū reprising their roles from the game. From here on, it will be interesting to see who will be cast as Yui Kusanagi.
