The charity auction held on Yahoo Auctions beginning on Dec. 17 for a special Lady Gaga inspired version of Hello Kitty came to a close on Dec. 23. The winning bid out of the 314 total bids was ￥2,259,522.
This special Hello Kitty was designed by third generation Hello Kitty designer Yuko Yamaguchi and only two exist in the world, with one belonging to Lady Gaga. The Hello Kitty features a hairstyle seen in recent videos and photos of Lady Gaga as well as an outfit that includes a suit with rhinestone sea shells and boots and is signed by Lada Gaga. It is planned to ship in an acrylic case.
The proceeds from the auction will go to the Tomodachi Stella Adler Performing Arts Fellowship, a scholarship that allows creative arts students the opportunity to study at specialized institutes in the U.S. The auction was a part of a larger charity auction to help those devastated by the 2011 Touhou earthquake.
In April of 2012, a tea cup used by Lady Gaga was put up for auction to also support a charity. The tea cup received bids from 1,344 people and sold for ￥6,011,000.
