The TV anime Gatchaman Crowds, the broadcast to which ran earlier this year from July to September, is still buzzing due to the second season being announced. On Jan. 22, 2014, the long-awaited Blu-ray and DVD box set will also release. The box’s specially illustrated jacket has already been made public. Audio commentary will be available on all 13 episodes plus a special video, and the cast and staff who will be taking part in this have also been announced.
Beginning with director Kenji Nakamura, the staff participating in the commentary span many aspects of production and include series composer Toshiya Ono, setting constructor Takao Kudō, character designer and chief animation director Yūichi Takahashi, original character planner Kinako, producer Ai Morikawa, animation producer Tsutomu Fujio, assistant director Yūzō Satō, color designer Kunio Tsujita, accessory designer Yoshiko Okuda, and setting producer Hinata Yamamura.
Participating staff from the music side include sound director Yukio Nagasaki, musician Taku Iwasaki, recording adjuster Yasutomo “Zill” Nogawa, sound effects coordinator Emi Takanashi, and recording assistant Hisafumi Tsuzuki.
Participating members of the cast include Maaya Uchida (Hajime Ichinose), Ayumu Murase (Rui Ninomiya, and Sakura Tange (X).
Also included in the Blu-ray and DVD box set is the special animation “#12 DC Embrace” that was only shown at the event Gatchaman Crowds Night. This animation fills in the gaps between Episode 11 and the conclusion to the TV series that fans won’t want to miss.
Syncing up with its release, special 90-second PR videos narrated by main character Hajime Ichinose have begun being released. Original bonus items for those who buy the box set have also been prepared at participating stores. The cost of the Blu-ray box is ¥19,740 and the DVD box is ¥15,540.
