Broadcast information for the TV anime Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha has been announced. The anime will begin broadcasting on Jan. 15, 2014 on Tokyo MX.
The anime is based on an original love comedy work by Morohe Yoshida that is currently serialized in Young Ace. The story follows a young middle school student named Inari Fushimi who, by complete mistake, is granted the power to shapeshift objects at will. It depicts her troubles with love and friendship and her maturity into adulthood. The manga has broken through 350,000 copies in print and is supported by both men and women from their teens to 30s.
A lineup of popular seiyū have been appointed to the anime’s cast. The main character, Inari, will be voiced by Naomi Ozora who is currently known for voicing Yuragi Hakoniwa in My Mental Choices are Completely Interfering with my School Romantic Comedy. Voicing Uka no Mitama no Kami, the god who gives Inari her power, is Houko Kuwashima who played Yuki Mori in Space Battleship Yamato 2199. Other cast members include Yōji Ueda as Tōka Fushimi, Iori Nomizu as Akemi Sumizome, Hiroshi Okamoto as Kōji Tanbabashi, Kumiko Ikebe as Keiko Sanjō, Kaori Sadohara as Chika Marutamachi, and Sayuri Hara as Kon.
The opening theme is “Kyou ni Koiiro” by May’n, and the ending theme is “Saved” by Maaya Sakamoto. Both of these artists have sung theme songs for a wide variety of work, so the anime is picking up attention even on the music side.
Directing is Tōru Takahashi who has worked on such anime as Sorcerous Stabber Orphen: Revenge, Otona Joshi no Anime Time, and Yūge. Other staff includes Tōko Machida of The Idolmaster and Karneval as series composer and Yuka Takashina of The Ambition of Oda Nobuna as character designer and chief animation director. The anime is being produced by the new studio Production IMS which just opened earlier this year.
